Why FCA Wrestling?

“I want to use two things I love—the Lord for all He has given me, and the sport of wrestling—to serve God. I have a soft spot for wrestling coaches since I was around them my whole life. God has opened up opportunities for me to share my story and encourage wrestlers and coaches at all levels.”

Why FCA Wrestling?

My first connection with FCA began about fifteen years ago. I was invited to FCA sports camp by a wrestling coach (who has become my best friend and partner in this FCA Wrestling journey). I was so transformed by the combination of sport and faith. It was a new and excellent way to think about faith in God. I began to volunteer with FCA camps and clinics at our school. I figured that I would get more involved after I retired (at 62) from teaching and coaching. This past summer God really put on my heart to go ALL IN with FCA Wrestling after this year of teaching. One of the most powerful experiences I’ve witnessed came last summer when one of our wrestlers spoke before her baptism. She talked about the life-changing experiences she encountered at FCA Wrestling Camp while she was in high school. I had tears of joy streaming down my cheeks as I heard her story. She is now a college student athlete at Menlo College (National Champions) where she is a spiritual leader for her teammates even as a freshman and served as a Huddle Leader at FCA Wrestling Camp last summer. God is changing lives through the good work of FCA Wrestling and I am excited to be a part of it.
