At Christmas there are always those people who we are most eager to see. Not that we aren't excited to see others, but let's be honest, most of us have favorites that include people and not just food.
Imagine having the opportunity to meet Christ Himself. WE DO! The whole story of Christmas is not only about our opportunity to meet Christ but a greater story of Him coming to meet us. Many times as athletes we have certain people we look up to. Some will even find ways to get near those we idolize. The good news about Christ is that we don't have to look for ways to get to Him. He came to us! Even as the enemy lurks, we have a God who came to us so that we might experience victory. What if your greatest sports hero showed up on game day for you? They simply came to help get you the victory. We would be in awe! Jesus Christ comes into the game day of our lives to do just that...give us victory!
So why did He come? Why was He born in a stable? Why did He leave the right hand of God to take on human flesh and walk just as we walk? He did it for you and me! He came so that we might have victory over every opposition in our life trying to steal from us our purpose, our peace, our hope, and our joy. As you make plans to visit those important to you during this Christmas season, know that Christ came over 2,000 years ago to see you as well. Take some time to simply tell Him thanks for coming – just as you would your family or friends who stop by during the holidays. His coming is the greatest gift we could ever receive.
Prayer:Dear Lord Jesus, remind us of the desire you have to be with us and help us to open the door of our homes and lives so that we might experience all that you have for us.
