Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Fellowship of Christian Athletes Wrestling (FCAW) is a sports-specific ministry of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). FCA is the largest sports organization in the world. Founded in 1954, FCA has been challenging athletes and coaches at all levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. The focus of FCA, as well as that of FCAW, is to serve the athletic community by equipping, empowering, and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes Wrestling
As a sports-specific ministry of FCA, we embody the mission of FCA specifically in the sport of wrestling. The power of the sports-specific ministry is that we are able to focus on the one sport we are passionate about -- wrestling -- and mobilize people to impact our sport for Christ. FCAW exists to serve coaches, athletes, and fans associated with the sport of wrestling, and empower them to make a difference for Christ -- a goal that is carried out under the leadership of Carl Perry who became the FCA Wrestling Director in April 2011. The wrestling community
The opportunities for serving the wrestling community are abundant. There are 10,724 high schools with wrestling programs; 245,382 high schools boys in wrestling; 16,519 high schools girls in wrestling; and 430 colleges with wrestling programs. At the college level, there are roughly 11,000 wrestlers in some form of intercollegiate wrestling through NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association), NCWA (National College Wrestling Association), and NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association). The interest and participation in the sport of wrestling are, without a doubt, growing.
What does this mean for FCAW? Tremendous opportunity. We are excited about the challenge and humbled to see God touch lives through this ministry.
