6 QUESTIONS with Carl Perry
1) How do you stay strong in your relationship with the Lord?
CP: I stay strong when I am consistent in my prayer time and studying God's Word. It's easy to get caught up in the busyness of ministry, but it is so rewarding when I step away to grow in my walk with the Lord.
2) What is something not many people know about you?
CP: I finished 4th in the Big Ten Tournament and was 8th seed going into the NCAA Tournament the year I won the championship.
3) Who had the biggest impact on your spiritual life and why?
CP: FCA leaders had the biggest impact because of the resources and opportunities they provided for me to grow in my personal walk with the Lord and in my leadership skills.
4) What was your favorite wrestling moment?
CP: Winning the NCAA Championship in 2000.
5) Who was your favorite wrestler growing up?
CP: Tom and Terry Brands because of their relentless attack to score points. They were also teammates with Steve Martin who ended up being my coach in high school.
6) What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
CP: 2 Timothy 1:7 - "For God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and sound mind." I love this verse because I think we hold ourselves back a lot of times in athletics and in life because of fear. This verse is a great reminder that the fear of failure does not have to take over our life, but through a personal relationship with Christ we begin to experience love, power, and sound mind.
